Fire Block Flame Retardant

Fire Block is an environmentally-friendly fire retardant which is used to retard fire in all Class A materials, such as drapes, wall hangings, furniture, boxes and packing materials, fabrics and uniforms, even construction materials. Unlike many products on the market today, it is specially formulated to be non-toxic, with noPBDE’s or neurotoxins that can cause long-term damage to both humans and the environment.

Fire Block forms a thermal insulation barrier that prevents dangerous flames form spreading. Fire Block also inhibits the development of toxic hydrocarbon smoke. And it is safe enough that it can be applied while people are present. It will remain effective until it is washed out. It can even be mixed with latex paint to prevent flame spread.

How to Use Fire Block

Applications: Use to treat Class A materials and surfaces such as uniforms, clothing, wood, pre-construction materials, furnishings, carpeting, packing materials, motor home interiors, holiday decorations and storage boxes for added safety against fire. Can be used on some synthetics, but it must be able to soak into the material being treated.

One quart of of Fire Block is enough to treat 100 square feet of material.

Do not dilute – use 100%.

It can also be mixed 50/50 with latex paint to keep flames on interior walls from spreading.

Available in one quart bottles with sprayers, 5 gallon pails, or 55 gallon drums.

Directions: Fire Block is easy to use. Just spray Fire Block on the item or surface being treated. Make sure the item gets completely wet. In bulk applications, you may also dip the items and allow to drip dry. In all applications, allow Fire Block to completely penetrate the item or surface. Allow material to dry completely. If you are using Fire Block to fire retard clothing and other fabrics, and plan to wash these items in the future, it is recommended that Fire Block be reapplied after the third washing, as some of the product’s effectiveness will be diminished due to washing.

When mixing Fire Block with latex paint, mix equal parts of Fire Block and paint. An extra coat of paint may be necessary, because Fire Block will thin the paint.
